Great Expectations is the story about the life of orphan Pip, from his early childhood until adulthood - and attempting to mature along the way. They were challenging times for Pip.
Today, it might be said that most major gifts are orphans in search of a home - maturing along the way. And as they do, they prompt the charities to mature, they demand honesty, integrity and transparency and they insist on a home that is safe, that is secure, and one that has a future.
What truly motivates donors to give? How do they really make decisions? And how can you find out? Tony Myers loves raising money. He's being doing it for almost two decades. And he has conducted several studies on major donors for much of that time and he can't wait to share with you the insights he's gained from real life experiences with real live donors.

Chamberlain Scholarship
Each year, AFP is pleased to provide one complimentary registration to each collegiate chapter for one member to attend the AFP International Conference on Fundraising. The chapter is responsible for travel costs, but the scholarship covers the $595 registration fee for the conference. It is a great educational and networking opportunity.

The Chamberlain Scholarship program honors Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE. Mr. Chamberlain had a long and distinguished career of service to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), beginning in the 1960s when the organization was formed as the National Society of Fund Raisers (NSFR), through the late 1970s when the name was changed to the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE), and until his death in 1999. Mr. Chamberlain's dedication to the organization we now know as AFP never faltered in his long volunteer career with the Association. Because of his long-time support of the Foundation's annual fund and generous planned gift, the AFP Board of Directors renamed their Conference Scholar Program in 2000 to honor Mr. Chamberlain's memory and commitment to the Association.
To qualify you must be employed as a full-time fundraising professional or spend at least fifty percent of your time fundraising for your employer. In addition you may have never attended an NSFRE/AFP International Conference on Fundraising. Only one individual from our Triad Chapter can be selected.
Chapter President MariJo Turner received the Chamberlain Scholarship when she went to her first international conference, and Chapter Board Member Tonya Hayes was our scholarship recipient this year, so you can ask either of them for additional details!
The application is available on the website and the deadline is September 30th.
