Comment: The North Carolina Children’s Promise is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Major Gifts as a key member of the development team within the North Carolina Children’s Hospital.
The Assistant Director of Major Gifts works with the Director of Major Gifts to expand a successful fundraising program for NC Children’s Hospital by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift support from individuals, corporations and foundations in collaboration with various units within Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics. Working in conjunction with the Director of Major Gifts and other members of the NC Children’s Promise development unit, this position will be responsible for a portfolio of 150-200 major gift prospects/donors.
Additional responsibilities will also include preparation of major gift materials such as proposals and gift agreements, travel across North Carolina on a regular basis for visits and special events, and will involve activities both local and offsite that may fall on weekdays and weekends throughout the year.
A bachelor’s degree and three years experience in major gift or similar fundraising is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills and judgment are also required. Team player with the ability to work on all levels with internal and external constituents is also key. Experience with Excel, Word, and Raiser’s Edge and familiarity with medical terminology recommended.
